Cameroon has more than 320 km of coastline, navigable rivers and waterways. This means there are numerous opportunities to practice the sea profession.

The Bakassi zone is the center of transportation traffic. Unfortunately, there is a high rate of unemployment under the most under privileged population.

Cameroon’s youth is terrified of the sea which discourages them from entering the maritime industry. This fear of water is in the way of the development of maritime transportation.

Authorities are helping youths to overcome this fear by training. The training took place a few days ago at the maritime training center in Douala.

“ It is known all over the world that the future of a nation is linked to its merchant marine. We equally affirm that the future of the merchant marine linked to the training of seamen”, Captain Derrick Segbefia of regional maritime university of Accra who trains these students said that their levels are good!
